Interim Pastor: John White
Pastor John came to FPC in September of 2017 to lead the congregation through a time of transition following the departure of the previous pastor. Since then, as a trained interim, he has helped the church stabilize, set a new vision and work on stated goals. Pastor John was ordained in 1982 in the Reformed Church in America and has served church in South Dakota, New York, Wisconsin and Iowa. His longest tenure was in Coralville, IA, where he and his wife Marue founded a new congregation: New Life Community. John and Marue are parents to three boys, all grown and married, and grandparents to two grandchildren in Missouri. Together they love to bike, especially on their tandem.
A lifelong member of FPC, Shelly stepped into the part-time administrative role in 2013. She keeps the church running and often serves as a ministry planner with the pastor. In a volunteer capacity, Shelly directs the after-school J.A.M. program at FPC. She also leads a middle school youth group and serves on many other committees. Shelly holds a degree in photography and worked in that field as well as the financial sector prior to her time at the church. She also works for Unity Presbyterian Church in Waterloo as their Financial Administrator. Shelly is wife to Eric and mother to Carlie and Ty. Active in the community, she volunteers with the school and the Boy Scouts, and enthusiastically cheers on her daughter’s softball teams.
